I can’t tell you how many times I’ve centered an entire look on just one piece of clothing. Once again that’s what I’ve done here with this jacket. I purchased this a few months ago from Zara, probably around March so they won’t have it anymore :(, but I couldn’t wait for the perfect moment to pull this one out to wear. I’ve seen many street style photos or just people walking around with these amazing detailed jackets and I kept thinking why can’t I find one?! Once I saw this I knew I had to have it!
Of course, for those of you who have read my previous posts, you will know that once I have a statement piece I want the rest of the look to be simple. I can’t help but stick to my ways and opted for a boyfriend fit jean with a plain white tee. This pair of jeans are actually men’s. I’ve said before that I love to walk around the men’s section as well to see what they have and I came across this pair of denim jeans. I purchased them from Club Monaco and the reason that I was able to pull them off is because they actually have small sizes for men. I know most men’s clothing stores start from a certain size, for example 29 or 30, but Club Monaco runs smaller, starting at 28. This sizing makes it perfect for that boyfriend look. The waist sits right on the hips giving it a slight drop crotch effect and I just love how they look with a pair of heeled booties.
Oh How I Love Fall…
What’s also great about fall fashion is that you can mix heavy and light weight pieces together. When I was in art school we had many classes discussing how to design with different weights of fabric. Learning how to style them together and always making sure there is a balance.
I feel that during the summer months it’s very difficult to play with this concept because we’re usually in very light and airy clothing to stay cool, especially out here in NY where the humidity is crazy! However, with fall season I always felt like I can really play with the different elements that can be incorporated in a look. Wearing a heavy knee length boot with a pair of shorts or a thick cable knit sweater with a strappy heel is something that I always feel I can truly pull off during the fall. It’s that time when you can mix and match almost anything in your closet![columns size=”1/2″ last=”false”]

With the new fall season upon us, I really want to share some of my favorite new looks, especially since we just finished up with NYFW and we all know Paris FW is in full swing. I will have a post of some of my top picks from what designers presented and new styles that have come out in stores so be on the look out for that!
