Capdepera
On our last two days in Mallorca we made sure to see as much as possible, there was no time to waste! We made our way from Palma and drove to the east end of the island and arrived in Capdepera. This was another beautiful city that had so much history all around. We started the day off visiting The Castle of Capdepera which began its construction in 310 and is the largest castle on the island. When I found out how hold this castle is I couldn’t believe the how much must have happened here throughout all those hundreds of years.
I wanted to take pictures all throughout the castle because I couldn’t believe how scenic it was. The weather as always helped, it’s constantly sunny in Mallorca. When you first enter the castle you have to take a steep walk up these cobble stoned hills as you can see in the picture, although they are much steeper when you’re actually walking! Throughout the fortress you can walk almost anywhere as long as the area is still intact. There were stairs leading all along the walls so we had amazing views throughout. Another great element about the castle is that they put on shows for tourists that involve these incredible owls. Unfortunately, while we were there the last show just finished. However, I did get a chance to see one of the men who train the owls walking out with them sitting on his hand and I got to pet it! It was so exciting because I’m such an animal lover and I never had the chance to pet an owl before, I mean how often do you come across that right?! We then made our way to the very top of the castle, quite a journey let me tell you! There you find a small church that I recommend everyone who visits there to step into. It was so peaceful and just a great place to reflect when it comes to the history behind this place. After we spent some time in the church, we went to go take some pictures of the scenic views. This photo above was by far one of my favorite. I love that even though you just see the rooftops of the whole city, it shows just how magical this place is. There is nothing that you can find that doesn’t have its own element of beauty in it. When I look at this picture it seems so calm to me as well, which as I’ve mentioned before was one of my favorite things about Mallorca. I truly can’t tell you how excited I am for the next trip there.
And we were off to Sóller…
We heard that the city of Sóller was not only another great place to wonder through but there was amazing views of the ocean at Port de Sóller. My favorite part was wondering through the streets of course. As much as I love the beach, believe me I can lounge around for quite some time, I’m definitely one more so for exploring. As with most of the other cities in Mallorca, there was not as much people as in NY, which is always a plus for me when it comes to leisurely strolls.
On our final day we decided to go to back to Palma for the day. First we went to a hilltop that my family loves to visit and took a few breathtaking photos there. I truly couldn’t believe just how amazing it was. Can you imagine being able to spend an afternoon lounging around with this view?!
We spent our last day just walking through Palma. We had a great dinner and, of course, gelato in the evening! I have to say looking back at this trip there wasn’t a moment where I wanted to come home. I was so relaxed and taken by all that Mallorca had to offer I was in no rush to get back. I really adjusted to the lifestyle quickly! I can’t wait to go back and visit my family and hopefully get the chance to live there some day. I leave you with one last image of the Cathedral of Palma at night, it was even more beautiful all lit up.
